Pachpadra Lake is situated near Pachpadra in Barmer district. It produces salt of high quality. It contains sodium chloride upto a level of 98%. Besides these, the lake of Phalodi Tehsil in Jodhpur district, Deedwana lake of Nagaur district and Lunkaransar lake of Bikaner district are also famous. Passing through the wilderness of Barmer, we came across this vast lake of salt known as Pachpadra lake, albeit almost dry at the onset of summer. The whitish tint of land is the spread of salt over it. The whole area is full of salt mounds and this is the second salt water lake in Rajasthan after the Sambar lake near Jaipur. |
