Udaipur city is having a large number of museums to preserve the rich art and heritage of Udaipur city. It can be said that the number of museums in Udaipur city is quite same to the number of historic tales related to the city of Udaipur. Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal in Udaipur, was established by Padma Shri Devi lal Samar in 1952. The purpose of the institute is to preserve the art and culture of Udaipur or in general of Rajasthan and its neighboring states. They also perform their art on stages and earn fame both nationally and internationally. Apart from performing stage shows and other various cultural programs they had also established a museum to treasure the art and culture not only of Udaipur but also of Rajasthan as a whole. The museum deals mainly with the tribal and folk art of India. It has an extensive collection that includes typical rural dresses, dolls, masks, musical instruments, ornaments, paintings and the famous puppets of Rajasthan. They are also trying to gather all the minor or major cultural information so that will be a fruitful tool for the research work of students and scholars.
