Established in 1957,this sanctuary is located beside the man-made lake of the same name Jaisamand lake, the second largest artificial Lake in Asia. Covering a total area of 160 sq km, it harbours sloth bear, leopard, chital, chinkara, wild boar and a number of birds. Some crocodiles and fish can also be spotted here. The Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is most often vivited not only for the wide variety of wildlife but also because of the Dhevar Lake, which is believed to be built by Rana Jai Singh , it was one of the largest lakes in Asia in the year 1691. this lake provided a stunning backdrop to the summer retreat "Rubi Rani Ki Mahal". Best time to visit is between November and January. |
