   Sariska Tiger Reserve

 

The Sariska National Park in Rajasthan in India. This wildlife park came into existence in the year 1955 and was given the status of a National Park in the year 1979.The Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary lies at a distance of 37 kilometers from Alwar in Rajasthan, India.

Sariska Tiger Reserve is well nestled in the Aravali Hills covering 800 sq km area divided into the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, sheer cliffs and rocky landscape. Nearly 90% of the area in the sanctuary is covered with dhok trees accommodating various wildlife species.is located in the contemporary Alwar district and is the legacy of the Maharajas of Alwar.

With the Aravali Hills in the backdrop, Sariska Tiger Reserve is other tigerland in Rajasthan which was brought under Project Tiger in 1979. Also the Siliserh Lake on the edge of the park has a large number of crocodiles. Sariska Park is home to numerous carnivores including Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, and Tiger. These feed on an abundance of prey species such as Sambar, Chitel, Nilgai, Chausingha, Wild Boar and Langur.

Best time to travel to Sariska is November to June. The Sariska National Park in Rajasthan, India is especially known for its population of Tigers and the best time to visit the Sariska wildlife sanctuary is perhaps during the months of October through June, though the sanctuary is open for wildlife tours all year round. You successfully spot quite a few wild animals as they come to the water holes to freshen up during the summer months when there is an acute shortage of water at the Sariska wildlife national park.
