Ruparail River Basin is located in northeastern Rajasthan, between latitudes 27o12' and 27o56' and longitudes 76o15' and 77o21'. It lies between the Sabi Basin in the northwest and the Banganga Basin in the south and east. Its eastern edge borders Haryana State. Ruparail River Basin extends over parts of Alwar and Bharatpur Districts.The total catchment area of the Basin is 3,855 km2 according to the 1:250,000 scale topographical maps published by the Survey of India. Also known as BARAH, Ruparail River originates in the Udainath hills of Thanagazi Reserved Forest, Alwar District. It crosses these hills Northwards and turns towards East before vanishing in Bharatpur District. Total length is 104 km. There are one Major, one Medium and 50 Minor irrigation projects in Ruparail River basin, as well as some small irrigation systems covering less than 20 ha constructed and operated by Panchayat Samities. |
