The construction of the temple got completed on 21st May 1531.Constructed by Nanak Devi, queen of Rao Ganga, Achal Nath Shivalaya is famous for its SHIVLINGA (also spelt Shivalinga), is the state of eternity, the symbolic idol of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is represented in the phallus form. The term shivling come from two words that is 'Leen' and 'Gati'. 'Leen' means 'Dissolve' and 'Gati' means 'Grow'. It means man should dissolve (Leen) in Shiva and then he should grow (Gati)) known as Ganga Bawari. The temple consists of the following separate halls:Garbh Griha,Mandap Bhavan,Kirtan Bhawan. All these halls are made up of carved Chhitar stone. The Garbh Griha literally means 'Womb Chamber'. It is the sacred place in a temple complex where the deity is placed and worshipped.
